Katie Schmidt

Lapham River Conservation Fellow

Katie works with the Conservation team on hydropower reform and dam removal. She recently completed her Master’s in Environmental Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University with an emphasis in hydrology and natural resources policy. She has worked with organizations such as American Whitewater, the River Management Society, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife before joining American Rivers. Prior to her work in conservation, Katie worked as a wilderness medicine instructor and international guide.

My husband proposed to me at Deer Creek Falls on the Grand Canyon.
