Water Supply
Ensuring enough water for healthy rivers and healthy communities
We all need water. But our nation's finite water supply is under increasing stress from a growing population, development, irrigated agricultural demands, and the challenges brought by global warming. Rivers flow through the center of the water supply debate. To ensure a clean, secure water supply for today and for the future, we must make sure our rivers are healthy and we must use the water we have more wisely. American Rivers advocates at the national, state and local levels for water efficiency solutions that help individuals, businesses, and communities do the same things with less water. We also fight costly, short-sighted and harmful new dams and other water storage projects and advocate for cheaper, more effective water supply solutions. And we work to protect the water flowing in rivers, so that it can continue to nourish our communities and the environment for years to come.
