Take Action to Protect Our Rivers
Rivers connect us. They are the arteries of our planet providing vital freshwater for people and nature.
In the U.S. there are more than 3.5 miles of river which provide 60% of our clean drinking water, contribute $97 billion annually to our economy, support tens of thousands of fish, birds and wildlife and safe places for people to play.
Unfortunately, millions of tons of trash end up in our rivers and streams each year. Litter is more than just an eyesore. It also contaminates rivers and is harmful to wildlife. You can make a difference by taking the pledge to keep your local rivers clean, swimmable and fishable.
**Due to COVID-19, please review and follow the guidance provided by your local government before you engage in this or any other outdoor activity to ensure your health and safety.
River Clean-up PledgeI care about rivers and pledge to pick up at least one piece of litter a day for one month.
Verizon shares American Rivers’ commitment to protecting the planet. We are grateful for Verizon’s generous support of our mission to protect wild rivers, restore damaged rivers and conserve clean water for people and nature. Our collaboration includes providing opportunities for Verizon employees to engage in volunteer river cleanup events planned in eleven cities and individually pledging to pick up litter for one month.
