Each year, university students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette participate in a day of service in their community – cleaning up in parks along the Bayou Vermilion as well as in the bayou itself – along the banks and contributing coulees. For many incoming freshmen, it might be their first time having a first hand experience with this challenged waterway that runs 33.5 miles through Lafayette Parish.
