Janae works to promote the health of the Waccamaw River and riverside lands in North and South Carolina to ensure clean drinking water supply, reduce flood risks, and protect local biodiversity.
Janae joined American Rivers in 2019. Prior to that she was a University of Michigan Environmental Fellow working with the National Wildlife Federation and the Healing Our Waters–Great Lakes Coalition on integrating diversity, equity and inclusion into their organizational structures and operations. She also worked as a Community Outreach and Communications Fellow at American Rivers on an assessment of outreach and communications approaches that would better engage communities of color of the Carolinas.
