JOB SUMMARY:

The Director, Grants Management and Financial Analysis is responsible for monitoring, supporting, and ensuring effective life cycle administration, grant and contract budget management, and compliance for grants from foundations, federal and state agencies, and other non-profit organizations. Responsibilities include ensuring sound fiscal management and reporting to foundations, federal and state agencies, and other non-profits; coordinating with program managers to ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of grant and contract agreements as well as the organization’s accounting policies and procedures; coordinating with Legal on interpreting and implementing requirements of OMB Uniform Guidance, cost principles and audit requirements; and assisting program staff in monitoring sub-recipient awards. The Director, Grants Management and Financial Analysis will also work closely with Advancement and program staff on grant budget preparation, establish cost tracking methodologies to ensure that costs are necessary and reasonable and are treated consistently per all contract provisions, GAAP, OMB Uniform Guidance, and other applicable circulars and best practices, and ensure that reimbursable costs are invoiced and collected timely.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the organization’s grants administration processes.
  • Work closely with Conservation and Advancement staff to ensure sound management of all foundation, federal, and state grant funds, including the development of proposal budgets and the management and tracking of grant funds.
  • Provide expertise on grant compliance and interpretation of OMB Circulars and all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures in collaboration with finance staff. Interprets applicable regulations and translates into operational policies as required.
  • Monitor all expenses to guard against unallowable costs and ensure that all funding is appropriately spent per grant terms and deadlines.
  • Obtain an understanding of internal controls over the compliance requirements and related audit objectives, selected cost items, allowable and unallowable costs, and standard methodologies.
  • Assist program managers in complying with grant financial and program requirements. Track remaining funds available, communicate routinely with program managers regarding available fund balances and spend-down plans, and prepare internal and external fiscal reports.
  • Oversee financial reporting for foundation and government grants, including the preparation of required federal and state forms, draws, and reimbursement requests.
  • Oversee invoicing for professional services contracts and other reimbursement-based grants.
  • Lead the development of grant proposal budgets for new awards.
  • Provide support and coordination with Legal in reviewing sub-grant agreements for prime grantor compliance and financial reporting.
  • In conjunction with program managers, review and monitor agreements with sub-grantees and consultants to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
  • Act as liaison to auditors regarding federal grant awards.
  • Manage accounts and login credentials for government online portals/systems and ensure they are regularly updated and documented.
  • Establish Negotiated Indirect Cost Rate Agreement for federal funder approval.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business.
  • Minimum 9 years relevant experience including management of federal grants, sub-grants, and audits under the Uniform Guidance.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, OMB Uniform Guidance 2 CFR 200, indirect cost rate development, and other federal grant regulations.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with accounting software, Sage Intacct preferred.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects with aggressive timelines; ability to manipulate, analyze and interpret data.
  • Ability to work with a range of personalities and working styles of staff at all levels within the organization.
  • Team player and demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues to advance an organization’s broader goals and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a geographically dispersed team.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
The salary range for this position is $71,196-$107,00  annually depending upon qualifications and experience. Full-time employee benefits include health, dental, and life insurance; a retirement plan, training budget, sick leave, 11 paid holidays, four weeks of paid vacation, paid sabbaticals every seven years, and a 3% retirement match.
