Organize a Cleanup

Organizing a river cleanup is a great way for your family, friends and neighbors to re-connect with local rivers and streams. You’ll be satisfied in knowing that you are playing a role in improving your hometown waters, as well as the water enjoyed by others downstream!

The first steps to organizing a river cleanup are selecting a date and location, and registering your cleanup online. When you register with American Rivers, your cleanup will appear on the Google map posted in the “Find a Cleanup” section of the National River Cleanup® page. This map allows volunteers to find hundreds of cleanups like yours nation-wide.

We provide FREE trash bags to all organizers who register their event four weeks in advance (while supplies last). You can also opt in to receive a free, one year membership, which includes a one year subscription to American Rivers Newsletter, a copy of the annual American Rivers calendar, and a membership card certifying your commitment to restoring and protecting the nation’s rivers and streams.

Organizing a river cleanup is a rewarding experience. Thanks for doing your part to restore and protect America’s waterways!
