Since helping found the Save Our Wild Salmon Coalition (SOS) in 1992 (He served as Executive Director from 1998 through August of 2013 and now works on contract for SOS), Pat Ford has worked to restore wild salmon and steelhead to the Columbia and Snake River Basins. Even before his long tenure at SOS, Pat was a dedicated conservationist dedicating himself to the conservation of his beloved Idaho (including helping designate the 2.3 million acre Frank Church Wilderness) and writing about conservation, primarily for High Country News. He has served on the boards of seven conservation organizations in Idaho, the Northern Rockies, and the Northwest.
American Rivers is a proud member of the SOS Coalition and many of our staff members have been lucky enough to work with Pat and serve on the SOS board of directors. His voice and vision on river protection and restoration has been invaluable in Idaho and across the Northwest.
