Protecting Small Streams and Wetlands
Safeguarding nature's source of clean water
From providing clean water to absorbing periodic floods, nothing works better or cheaper than nature’s own systems of wetlands, small headwater streams, and floodplains. American Rivers is working to preserve natural landscapes so that particularly in the face of global warming, these natural systems will provide clean water as we face droughts and absorb flood waters from more frequent and intense storms. A key part of protecting these natural landscapes is passage of the Clean Water Restoration Act, which would bring Clean Water Act protections to vital steams and wetlands that are now unprotected and vulnerable.
