Workshop and Toolkit Highlight the Benefits of Conservation Planning
August 6, 2010 | Blue Trails, Clean Water, Protecting Rivers

American Rivers and Waccamaw River Blue Trail partners, the Waccamaw RIVERKEEPER® and the Pee Dee Land Trust, are working to protect land and improve recreation along the Waccamaw River in South Carolina.
Recently, project partners hosted the first in a series of workshops geared towards educating local communities on the many benefits and opportunities associated with private land protection.
This workshop provided accountants, estate planners and tax attorneys with information on the basics of conservation easements, the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) programs as well as more detailed information that may be of benefit to tax professionals. It was great to have a local tax attorney from Turner Padgett, LLP there to answer questions and share updates on recent law changes with participants.
The information provided during this workshop is also now available in an online guide, The Benefits of Conservation Planning: A Toolkit for the Tax Professional.
