Wapsie River Trail Dedication

INDEPENDENCE (Thursday, June 11, 2009): Several organizations and officials came together Saturday at Bathing Beach to dedicate the Buchanan County Wapsipinicon River Water Trail in Iowa.
“It took many types of people to get this accomplished,” said Dan Cohen, Director of the Buchanan County Conservation Board.
The river is now marked for hazards and at river access points are informational kiosks.
Independence Mayor Frank Brimmer said the program will program will promote safety, fun and tourism. Quasqueton Mayor Lee Bossom agreed and said he was proud to be a part of it.
“There is nothing better than to float down the river and enjoy Mother Nature,” he said. Read more.
