Richard Green, host of Time Warner Cable’s Around Carolina, recently joined us for a paddle on the Waccamaw River Blue Trail to learn more about the project and how we are working to protect rivers through the creation of Blue Trails. For example, the stretch of river shown in this video is better protected because of an ordinance we worked to help pass that protects riverside trees.
Blue Trails, or blueways, are a great way to reconnect communities to their local rivers, provide outdoor recreational opportunities for families and are a valuable economic resource. Paddle events, like this one, help in getting the word out about the trail and build support for the river’s protection.
