Rain Barrels Available
March 17, 2009 | Clean Water, Stormwater & Sewage, Greening Water Infrastructure
Katie Rousseau
Associate Director of Clean Water Program
Yes, it is that time of year again when the weather starts to warm and we wait for our plants to grow. So, while we are patiently waiting for some form of life to appear from the ground, we should start thinking about installing our rain barrel. I’ve seen several outside already, but I would caution against installing your barrel for the season as it is more than likely to snow and freeze again - at least in the Great Lakes.
So, what if you do not own one yet? American Rivers in partnership with the City of Toledo Stormwater Program and the Rain Garden Initiative of Toledo - Lucas County are once again offering rain barrels for pre-order through New England Rain Barrel at a cost of $79.95. You may order them online at www.nerainbarrel.com or by calling toll free 877-977-3135. Orders must be placed by March 27th for the April 4th pick up at the Erie Street Market in downtown Toledo.
