Yesterday, American Rivers had a tremendous release of our list of America’s Most Endangered Rivers of 2011.  The stories are rolling in, and we are very excited about the interest that has been shown in this year’s rivers.  I wanted to share with you a few of the exciting moments that we have seen so far.

First thing Tuesday morning, we had a story from USA Today highlighting the full list, with special attention to the #1 Susquehanna River and the fracking issue.

For the second year in a row, MSNBC posted a slideshow of our top ten, which really gives a good visual synopsis of the bunch.  We’ve got some beauties on the list; that is for sure!

National Geographic also did an awesome pictorial overview of America’s Most Endangered RiversTM of 2011.  They’ve coupled that with fun facts about the world’s water, which really helps bring home the importance of protecting these resources for the future.

We also had some fantastic press conferences (thanks to our amazing partners) and tv interviews.  Andrew Fahlund, our Senior VP for Conservation, is featured in this interview about the Susquehanna River.  One of American Rivers’ Board members, Gordon Philpott graciously helped us out at a press conference on Ozark National Scenic Riverways.  Gary Belan, a Director in our Clean Water Program, spoke at a press conference on the Chicago River

This is just the beginning!  Stop by the River Blog tomorrow to hear more good news!
