- A fun summer blog from American Rivers' communications intern, Sam Padgett:
Picnicking by the river, swimming, delicious food, and great music –these are some of the things that make a memorable summer. So join your local river festival to kick start your summer the right way.
Swimming, fishing, river racing, and whitewater rafting are all fun summer activities. Go to your local river and see what fun events they have planned, just for you! Rivers from California to Maine and from Alaska to Florida have some of the most entertaining festivals and we encourage you to get out on the water and celebrate your river!
Here is just one of the many upcoming festivals:
Colonial Beach events take place year round and this Saturday marks the 61st Annual Potomac River Festival. All across the US, river festivals are held in honor of our rivers, just like the Potomac. This weekend you can attend a BBQ at UMC, partake in a lawnmower race, hear Groove Messiah perform live at Dockside and more! Find all the information on the Potomac River Festival’s site.
Be a part of the fun and find a river fest near you! If you know of any other festivals, please let us know in the comments below.
