Building on Rain Barrel Success!

With a goal of putting 500+ rain barrels on the ground by the end of 2009, I can safely say that we’re getting there. It may be a slow and steady road, but it will be rewarding in the end when we are able to capture millions of gallons of water in the course of one year. We’ve now had three rain barrel sales in the Maumee River Watershed and have sold over 325 barrels in 43 local communities.
At our last event in April, we did not anticipate the response from local television viewers when we were featured on a Saturday morning show (one of those last minute perks we weren’t anticipating). We had run out of rain barrels after selling the extra thirty that we had ordered and ultimately turned at least forty people away empty handed. People just kept coming even after the news crew left. Thanks again to Jack Freele of New England Rain Barrel for taping the local news spots. He sure is entertaining!
For those of you we had to turn away, I just want to apologize and let you know that we’ll have more rain barrels on August 8th at the Frogtown Fair at the Erie Street Market in downtown Toledo. See the flyer for details on pre-ordering your barrel, so you don’t get left empty handed this time around.
