Celebrating at the South Lawn of the White House
William Robert (Bob) Irvin, President
June 6, 2012
Yesterday I was fortunate to attend a reception on the South Lawn of the White House for the President’s political appointees and their guests. President Obama and Mrs. Obama greeted us and thanked those serving in the administration for their dedicated service on behalf of the nation.
I especially enjoyed the opportunity to see the First Lady’s vegetable garden and beehive, part of her effort to connect Americans, particularly children, with nature and the outdoors. It reminded me how fortunate we are that the President and his administration, particularly Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, have made protecting and restoring rivers a central focus of the America’s Great Outdoors program.
