American Rivers hosts Wild Rivers Night in Portland, OR

October 20, 2010 | Global Warming, Wild and Scenic Rivers, Protecting Rivers

The Wild and Scenic Rogue River, OR

If you haven’t floated, fished or hiked along the Wild and Scenic Rogue River in southern Oregon you should know that it is one of the most iconic and breathtaking rivers in the United States. It was one of the original eight rivers designated under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act in 1968. Yet its pristine cold-water tributaries and the massive salmon runs which depend on these streams face real threats from logging, mining, off-road vehicles, and a warming climate.

American Rivers is dedicated to ensuring the Rogue and its tributaries stay wild, cold and beautiful for many generations to come.  We are working hard to secure additional Wild and Scenic River and wilderness designations for the area by getting legislation introduced and passed in Congress. But what really makes a difference to these efforts is public support!

We are hosting a Wild Rivers Night in Portland, Oregon on November 16th in partnership with ECHO River Trips and Keen Footwear. We will have a reception and brief presentation to discuss our efforts to protect the Rogue and other remarkable Northwest rivers, and we’ll let you know how you can take action for these rivers, too.

Date: Tuesday, November 16th
Time: Beverages and light snacks at 5:30pm, brief presentation at 6:30pm
Location:
The Great Room at Keen Footwear
926 NW 13th Avenue
Portland, OR 97209

Please send questions and RSVP’s to JMuhm@AmericanRivers.org by November 9th.
