Progress report: Elwha River dam removal
October 17, 2011 | Dams & Dam RemovalOne month ago, we kicked off the nation's biggest dam removal project on Washington's Elwha River. We've been wowed by the progress – watching with the help of Olympic National Park's web cams -- as crews take down these dams bit by bit.

Just next week, a hole will be blasted in the base of the White Salmon River's Condit Dam and the reservoir will drain in a matter of hours, kicking off another historic river restoration effort.
