New Raingardens and Bioswale for Nevada City
American Rivers has broken ground on two raingardens and a bioswale in front of the County Building Department in Nevada City, CA. Here parking strips are being converted to active landscapes: green infrastructure that will protect our clean water supply.
This demonstration project is a strong local collaboration funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and engages local designers, builders and engineers. Construction will be completed in August and in September, there will be a public demonstration and simulated flood using a fire hydrant to calibrate the monitoring instruments.
