Its official, the 2013 National River Cleanup®season has begun! Last year, over 92,000 volunteers removed 3.5 million pounds of trash from more than 39,000 miles of waterways across America. As a result, the 2012 National River Cleanupwas the most successful season since the program began in 1991.

This year our goal is to blow last year’s cleanup stats out of the water by registering cleanups in all 50 states. Did you know there aren’t any river cleanups registered in North or South Dakota? That means the Missouri River, the longest river in America, flows through three states before reaching a river cleanup!

You can support communities downstream and help make the 2013 National River Cleanup the most widespread cleanup ever by registering a cleanup today! And don’t stress if you haven’t participated in a cleanup before- we have plenty of resources to ensure that organizing your cleanup is an easy and rewarding experience.

So grab your river shoes and a friend. We’ll see you on the river!
