Cutting for Clean Water

Cuts for Clean Water at an Aveda Experience CenterFor the second year in a row, Aveda selected American Rivers to be a recipient charity for Earth Month in the mid-Atlantic region (DE, MD, VA and Washington, DC), which also happens to be where our headquarters is located.

During Earth Month, participating salons and stores host all sorts of events from silent auctions to cut-a-thons to raise awareness about clean water.  We LOVE being a part of Earth Month.

Last week, Anne and I headed down to the Aveda Experience Center near my home to participate in their “Cuts for Clean Water” event. Not only did I participate, but my wife and a friend of ours also signed up. Did I mention we all brought our kids along? Is there anything I will not do to support clean water?

A stylist from a local Aveda salon donated his day to the cause and I think it’s safe to say, everyone had a great time.  Anne and other staff tried to convince me to have a free-flowing river-shaped mohawk on my head (tempting idea), but I decided to let the professionals do their job, so I didn’t embarrass myself in meetings on the Hill later in the week.  Maybe next time.

If you’re looking for an event to participate in before Earth Month 2012 comes to a close, it’s not too late! There’s still a week left – Aveda stores and salons across the country are hosting events for clean water. Give them a call or stop by to see what fun things are happening in your neighborhood.

Happy Earth Day!
