Cutting for Clean Water
Blog by American Rivers staff members Gary Belan and Anne Paterson
For the second year in a row, Aveda selected American Rivers to be a recipient charity for Earth Month in the mid-Atlantic region (DE, MD, VA and Washington, DC), which also happens to be where our headquarters is located.
Last week, Anne and I headed down to the Aveda Experience Center near my home to participate in their “Cuts for Clean Water” event. Not only did I participate, but my wife and a friend of ours also signed up. Did I mention we all brought our kids along? Is there anything I will not do to support clean water?
A stylist from a local Aveda salon donated his day to the cause and I think it’s safe to say, everyone had a great time. Anne and other staff tried to convince me to have a free-flowing river-shaped mohawk on my head (tempting idea), but I decided to let the professionals do their job, so I didn’t embarrass myself in meetings on the Hill later in the week. Maybe next time.
If you’re looking for an event to participate in before Earth Month 2012 comes to a close, it’s not too late! There’s still a week left – Aveda stores and salons across the country are hosting events for clean water. Give them a call or stop by to see what fun things are happening in your neighborhood.
- If you’re in DE, MD, VA or Washington, DC, check out this calendar for a sample of events in the area.
Happy Earth Day!
