TITLE: Communications/Marketing Intern - Summer
REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Communications
LOCATION: Washington, DC
START DATE: June 1 (flexible)
POSITION SUMMARY: American Rivers is seeking a communications and media-savvy self-starter to intern in the Communications Department at our Washington, DC office. This is an unpaid position, and can be either be part- or full-time. College credit is available.
Candidates should be enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program in communications, journalism, or related field.
The intern position is writing intensive and the intern will be expected to help write and edit pieces for American Rivers’ media and outreach efforts. The intern will also be asked to help prepare material for American Rivers’ accounts on various web and social networking platforms. The communications intern should have excellent writing, editing, researching, web publishing, and organizational skills.

INTERN QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent writing, editing, and research skills
- Ability to work with minimal guidance
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Comfort with MS Office
- Familiarity with various social networking sites
- Web savvy
- Passion for environmental issues
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact professionally within a diverse community.

TIME COMMITMENT AND PAY: American Rivers’ internships are unpaid. We request a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week but schedule and length of internship are flexible.
