Area of Focus: Daniel works to design, plan, and implement monitoring and restoration activities aimed at protecting and restoring mountain meadows and stream ecosystems in the western Sierra Nevada foothills.
Background: Daniel joined American Rivers in 2009. Prior to that he was taking graduate classes in environmental studies at the Evergreen State College and interning as a Natural Resources Technician at the Thurston Conservation District in Olympia, Washington.
Education: B.A. in Biology with a Minor in Earth Science from University of California-Santa Cruz

Before winter set in for the season, we discovered an impressive woody dam on the West Fork Carson River while doing field work in Hope Valley Meadow. This high elevation alpine meadow sits on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada only a stone’s throw from South Lake Tahoe. Because of its accessibility, it is an extremely popular destination for hikers, anglers, snowmobilers, and photographers alike, and is probably best known for its spectacular fall colors.
